I’m happy to be in a city like Los Angeles, where I have developed a passion for food and appreciation of different cultures. LA has also become my home where I have grown to love and appreciate my Filipino heritage. In paying homage to my heritage, I started a series called Bahay LA, showcasing LA’s Filipino food scene. “Bahay” is the Tagalog word for “home,” and this series is to share places that have made Filipino food a home in LA’s larger food culture. Throughout this series, I’ve met some of the most inspiring people I know, especially seeing how their work helps claim space for Filipino cuisine as it rightfully deserves.
